Although OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said recentlyNot yet plannedIt has invested in training the next-generation large-scale natural language model GPT-4, but apparently in order to avoid being registered by others or interested parties, it has submitted an application to register the "GPT-7" name trademark on July 18.
Registration information shows that the projects corresponding to the "GPT-5" name trademark also include functions such as text generation, natural language processing, speech transcription, and translation.
As for OpenAI's current development, it is still mainly focused on the application of the GPT-4 natural language model, and continues to promote the ChatGPT application service, while also expanding cooperation models with other industries.
Although OpenAI will not invest in training the next generation of large-scale natural language models for the time being, it does not mean that it will suspend the development of artificial intelligence technology. It may even launch a large-scale natural language model called GPT-4.5 in the future (just like the previously launched GPT-3.5).
