After leaving OnePlus last year, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei chose to set up a new startup in London, England.Nothing", and its development goal will be to create an application ecosystem for smart connected devices, with the first product being true wireless headphones.
In acceptingBloomberg NewsDuring the interview, Pei Yu said that he would start with simple devices, so starting from the true wireless headphones that are currently becoming popular in the market, he will continue to create more products in the next year and enable different products to communicate with each other.
Pei Yu's statement suggests that "Nothing" will not focus on mobile phones like Xiaomi, but will instead create an IoT application ecosystem applicable to any mobile phone. However, beyond the initial mention of true wireless earbuds, Pei Yu did not provide further details on "Nothing's" upcoming products.

Currently, "Nothing" has been acquired from Alphabet's venture capital firm GV (formerly known as Google Ventures)$1500 million investment, and also received investments from Tony Fadell, the founder of NEST, known as the father of iPod, and Casey Neistat, a famous YouTuber, filmmaker and founder of 368 Creative Space.
In addition, "Nothing" also received financial support from Reddit CEO Steve Huffman and Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin. Other sponsors include Web Summit founder Paddy Cosgrave, PCH founder and CEO Liam Casey, and Product Hunt CEO Josh Buckley.
If nothing unexpected happens, the future development of "Nothing" should be similar to NEST's past creation of home connected devices, but it is also expected to expand into more diversified product development like Xiaomi. As to whether it will adopt OnePlus's approach of maximizing the performance and user experience of a product, it is currently impossible to confirm.
