It has been confirmed that it will be officially launched on September 9thWorld of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic Edition, is now officially open to play.
Blizzard Entertainment's "Wrath of the Lich King" Classic Edition has been officially launched. Any player with game time can play this classic "World of Warcraft" second expansion at no additional cost, and venture to the cold northern continent of Azeroth in the re-released expansion. At the same time, it can be played on all existing "World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade" Classic Edition servers.
Players will travel through lush vegetation areas, fight enemies never seen before in Azeroth, complete multiple quests, and finally challenge the extremely classic character "Lich King" in Icecrown Citadel to stop his evil plan to destroy the world.
In World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic, Blizzard Entertainment has added the Death Knight hero class, allowing all players to experience it starting at level 55. Players can also earn a variety of in-game achievements through the original World of Warcraft achievement system. Furthermore, the Inscription profession skill has been added, allowing players to carve glyphs with skill-enhancing effects. These enhancements can change the appearance and even the nature of spells and skills.
This beloved expansion retains the gameplay of its original 2008 release while offering modern social and gameplay features for the Classic community. The team-building tools have been modernized, while still retaining the original feel of the team-building mechanics.
"Wrath of the Lich King Classic is a pivotal journey in Azeroth's history. We all love the content in this expansion, and we've carefully balanced the nostalgia for veteran players with the novelty of the first experience for new players," said Holly Longdale, Vice President and Executive Producer of World of Warcraft. "We've also worked hard to maintain the quality of the endgame and the quality of the player group experience, ensuring that players can fully experience the vast content of Northrend."
Starting today, World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic will feature 12 dungeons for players to level up and reach max-level content. With future expansions, this will total 16 dungeons. Starting October 10th, players can brave the first three raid dungeons: Eye of Eternity, Obsidian Sanctuary, and Naxxramas. Ulduar, Trial of the Crusader, Icecrown Citadel, and Ruby Sanctuary will also be added in the future.
For players who want to further enhance their gaming experience, there are two version upgrades to choose from on Battle.net:
