Previously, Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe revealed thatOculus Rift Commercial EditionThe price of PC hardware will not exceed US$1500. At the Oculus Connect 2 event, it was announced that it will launch the "Oculus Ready" PC hardware certification, and emphasized that the PC hardware that can successfully drive the Oculus Rift to display virtual reality vision can be priced at least below US$1000 (but the condition seems to still be that it must be bundled with an Oculus Rift).
Oculus has officially announced the launch of its "Oculus Ready" PC hardware certification program, which will allow developers and users to determine which hardware specifications are suitable for driving virtual reality image display effects. The program also aims to establish this as a standard specification for PC hardware that drives virtual reality images in the future.
As for the minimum hardware standards for Oculus Rift, they are roughly the same as the specifications announced in the first half of the year, requiring at least an Intel Core i5 series processor, 8GB of memory, and a graphics card with Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon 290 specifications or above.
The price can be controlled at around US$1500, and Oculus further stated that if it is sold together with the commercial version of Oculus Rift, the price of PC hardware can be controlled below US$1000. The first wave of cooperative manufacturers include ASUS, Dell and Dell's e-sports brand Alienware, as well as component manufacturers including Nvidia and Intel.
The commercial version of Oculus Rift is expected to be launched in early 2016. As for whether it plans to cooperate with Nvidia's recently launched GeForce GTX 980 laptop series for sales, there are no specific details yet. In addition, Oculus also announced during E3 2016 this year thatWill work with Microsoft Xbox One, perhaps we can expect the release of bundled or compatible games later.
The HTC Vive, which recently announced that it will be launched in a small number of units this year, does not seem to have much news about its launch yet.
