Announcement for NVIDIAInvested $50 billion in Intel, the market speculated that this might have an impact on MediaTek, but MediaTek's general manager and chief operating officer Chen Guanzhou responded earlier, emphasizing that the cooperation between MediaTek and NVIDIA is a technological complementarity and is not limited to specific products.
Chen Guanzhou stated that MediaTek's collaboration with NVIDIA covers terminal devices, in-vehicle systems, and cloud computing platforms, including designs using NVIDIA NVLink technology. These collaborations will proceed according to established plans, and relevant results are expected to be seen within the next 2-3 years.
At the same time, Chen Guanzhou stated that the cooperation between MediaTek and NVIDIA does not involve a financial investment relationship, but is only based on cooperation at the technology and product levels. Therefore, he emphasized that NVIDIA's investment in Intel does not affect its cooperation with MediaTek.
As for the fact that some of MediaTek's products are outsourced to Intel for production, Chen Guanzhou also explained that the company is still cooperating with TSMC for advanced process application products, and the outsourcing of some products to other companies is mainly for mature process design products. He also explained that he does not rule out cooperating with more foundry companies, but emphasized that TSMC is the only cooperation partner for advanced process products.
Regarding potential geopolitical risks, Chen Guanzhou said that he might consider transferring some advanced process products to TSMC's Arizona plant for production to ensure stable supply and meet the needs of the US market.
