The Wall Street Journal reportedThe French Competition Authority raided NVIDIA on suspicion of helping large cloud companies squeeze out fair competition from small cloud service providers, the report said.
In June this year, the French Competition Authority stated that AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure were involved in squeezing out other small-scale cloud service providers and launched a related investigation.
In a related investigation, the French Competition Authority believes that small cloud service providers, or services that enter the market later, basically find it difficult to compete with large-scale cloud service providers that have already gained a majority market share. Especially in the current development trend of artificial intelligence application services, small-scale operators can hardly compete fairly with large operators such as Amazon, Google, and Microsoft.
The main reason for the raid on NVIDIA is that many cloud operators currently use graphics card acceleration to implement artificial intelligence computing, and NVIDIA has become the graphics card supplier behind the acceleration of many artificial intelligence application services. Therefore, it has been targeted by the French Competition Authority and is under investigation.
NVIDIA did not respond to requests for comment.
