In August this year, it was announced that it would launch theNIM microservices that are compatible with local language and culture, and accelerated the deployment of various sovereign AI application projects. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang announced at the NVIDIA AI Summit Japan that he and Softbank will work together to accelerate Japan's development into an artificial intelligence powerhouse.
Softbank will use NVIDIA's Blackwell graphics architecture accelerators to build Japan's largest artificial intelligence supercomputer, enabling the implementation of multiple sovereign AI applications. It will also incorporate Grace Blackwell architecture application designs. Furthermore, NVIDIA AI Aerial accelerated computing software and hardware solutions will be used to build a 5G AI-RAN (artificial intelligence radio access network) and establish an AI marketplace through NVIDIA AI Enterprise to meet the demand for localized and secure AI computing services within Japan.
“Japan has a long history of pioneering technological innovations with global impact,” said Jensen Huang. “With SoftBank’s significant investment in NVIDIA’s end-to-end AI, Omniverse, and 5G AI-RAN platforms, Japan is poised to become a global leader in the AI revolution, propelling industries like telecommunications, transportation, robotics, and healthcare into a new era of growth. This is a boon for humanity in the AI age.”
“Society is undergoing a profound transformation as countries and regions around the world accelerate the adoption of AI to drive social and economic growth,” said Junichi Miyakawa, President and CEO of SoftBank. “Through our long-standing collaboration with NVIDIA, SoftBank is at the forefront of this transformation. Leveraging our robust AI infrastructure and AITRAS, our new distributed AI-RAN solution that reshapes 5G networks for AI, we will accelerate innovation across Japan and globally.”
