NokiaEarlier confirmed, will makeAssets of its digital health business unitResold to Éric Carreel, co-founder of the Withings brand.
Although there was news earlier thatNESTIt is interested in acquiring the assets of Nokia's digital health business unit, but Nokia announced earlier that the assets of its digital health business unit will return to the hands of Éric Carreel, co-founder of the Withings brand.
Nokia said it expects the transaction to be completed by the end of the second quarter of this year, and will divest all of its digital health business assets, meaning that the Nokia brand will focus on the development of telecommunications and network equipment in the future (mobile phone products have been transferred toHMD Global).
However, Nokia or Éric Carreel did not disclose whether they plan to allow Withings to re-enter the market in the future or whether Éric Carreel will develop a new brand.
Withings was acquired by Nokia for $2016 million in 1.91 and subsequently integrated into Nokia's Digital Health division. The company also dropped the Withings brand name and launched digital scales, blood pressure monitors, and other health devices under the Nokia brand. However, the Digital Health division has proven ineffective in generating significant revenue for Nokia, barely contributing to the company's other business units. Consequently, Nokia recently announced plans to sell the Digital Health division to avoid further losses.
