Nintendo earlier officially announced the complete remakes of classic N64 titles through an unexpected "Star Fox Direct" livestream.The new game of the same name, Star Fox.This highly anticipated space shooter, a game that holds countless memories for veteran gamers, has been confirmed as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, scheduled for release on June 25th. The title features a cinematic modern overhaul in visuals and story presentation, and significantly expands online 4v4 multiplayer battles and a brand-new two-player cooperative mode.
A cinematic visual renovation that preserves the original classic flavor.
Unlike past remakes that simply increased resolution, Star Fox has undergone a complete visual overhaul. The official press release defines it as a "cinematic take," with the redesigned characters even carrying a touch of...Mr. Super Fox The exquisite and unique stop-motion animation quality of (Fantastic Mr. Fox).
• Full voice acting and enhanced storyline:The game features brand-new cutscenes and mission briefings between levels, all accompanied by full voice acting. The official prologue trailer even offers a glimpse into Firefox's father, James McCloud, and Pigma.
• Authentic level experience:Despite the complete visual overhaul, Nintendo promises that the level progression and layout will perfectly recreate the memories of the N64 era; and the classic banter between the squad members, including Fox, Falco, Slippy, and Peppy, will also be reproduced in the battles.
• Classic vehicles return:The familiar acceleration, braking, and signature "barrel rolling" maneuvers of the Arwing fighter jet, as well as the scene of the Blue-Marine submarine launching torpedoes to pierce squid, all showed a gorgeous next-generation upgrade in the gameplay demonstration.
Gameplay expanded significantly: from two-player co-op to intense 4v4 aerial battles.
To cater to the gaming habits of modern players, the remastered version offers a great deal of sincerity in terms of mode selection:
• Single-player campaign and two-player co-op:The campaign mode offers Easy, Normal, and an "Expert" difficulty level that requires advanced skills to unlock. Most excitingly, the campaign mode fully supports "on-premises two-player co-op," where one player acts as the pilot and the other as the gunner.
• New 4v4 battle mode:This is a 4v4 arena mode, currently confirmed to include three different mechanics: "Control Point Capture" in Corneria, "Crystal Collection" in Fichina, and "Conquest" against space pirates in Sector Y. Players can create private rooms or join public matchmaking, and the game shares feature is supported both locally and online.
Deeply integrated with the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware ecosystem
As a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, Star Fox naturally integrates many of the new console's hardware features. In addition to supporting the reissued N64 controller, the game will also support the new "Joy-Con 2 mouse controls," which is expected to bring unprecedented accuracy to shooting and aiming.
In addition, players can use interactive avatars of the main crew members from Star Fox in the GameChat system on the Nintendo Switch 2 for social interaction.
