Nintendo announced a number of new games at its online press conference, "Nintendo Direct 2023.6.21," earlier this week. These included a new Mario game, "Super Mario Bros. Amazing," set in the classic 2D side-scrolling format, and a new stage-themed game starring Princess Peach. They also confirmed that the Super Mario RPG, previously released for the Super Nintendo, will be remastered for the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo also announced new games alongside numerous partners during this online press conference.
"Super Mario Bros. Wonder" will be presented as a classic 2D side-scrolling action game. As a new game in the "Super Mario Bros." series, players can control Mario, Luigi, Toad, Peach, Daisy, and others, and adventure in familiar elements and more anthropomorphic world levels. At the same time, they can also use the "Wonder Flower" to change the state of the world and utilize new transformation abilities to pass levels. The game includes gameplay elements such as changing levels and turning Mario into an elephant. Up to four players can play together.
The game with Princess Brigitte as the protagonist has not yet been named, but it will definitely be designed in the form of a stage play, with Princess Brigitte as the protagonist, fighting against enemies through various gorgeous stage actions. The game is expected to be released in 2024.
The remake of Super Mario RPG, coming to Nintendo Switch, is based on the March 1996 Super Nintendo version and features 3D graphics. The new release also includes WarioWare: Move It!, featuring over 3 new mini-games and a "moment x motion" gameplay format, allowing players to perform split-second actions within 200 seconds. Additionally, more information on the real-time strategy game Pikmin 5 and the latest news on Pikmin 4+1 were announced.
Other new games include those jointly released by Square Enix, Konami, Marvelous Entertainment and other companies.
At the same time, Nintendo also announced new "The Legend of Zelda: Kingdom of Tears" amiibo "Zelda" and "Ganondorf", which are scheduled to be released in winter 2023.
