Nintendo earlier announced itsFirst quarter financial results for fiscal year 2024, of which net sales amounted to 4613.4 billion yen, a year-on-year increase of 50%, while revenue reached 1854.4 billion yen, a year-on-year increase of 82.4%, and net profit reached 181 billion yen, a year-on-year increase of 52.1%.
Last quarter's profits were mainly due to sales of games such as "The Legend of Zelda" series and the box office performance of "Super Mario Bros. Movie".
Among them, "The Legend of Zelda: Kingdom of Tears" has sold more than 5 million copies since its launch in May this year. Together with the previously released "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild", it accounts for almost half of the sales of Nintendo's first-party games, and "Mario Kart 1851 Deluxe" maintains sales of 8 million copies. As for "Super Mario Bros. Movie", as of July 167, it has accumulated more than 7 million views in the global market and brought in US$26 billion in revenue.
As for Nintendo Switch, sales reached 391 million units in the last quarter, even showing an increase compared to the same period last year. Among them, 283 million units were the higher-priced Nintendo Switch OLED model. The main reason may be the release of "The Legend of Zelda: Kingdom of Tears", which once again boosted Nintendo Switch sales.
However, Nintendo has not yet disclosed whether it plans to releaseNintendo Switch successor, but there have been rumors in the market that Nintendo is preparing to launch a new game console in 2024.
