Nintendo recentlyTemporary postponement原訂在美國當地時間4月9日進行的Nintendo Switch 2預購活動,但強調仍會在6月5日於美國市場銷售新機。而在Recent interviewsAt the time, Doug Bowser, president of Nintendo of America, stated that they are currently evaluating the price of Nintendo Switch two days from now. He also revealed that the Nintendo Switch originally sold in the market will not be discontinued due to the launch of the new machine.
Doug Bowser did not specifically state whether the original suggested retail price of Nintendo Switch 2 would be increased due to tariff issues, but judging from the market situation, if the tariff issue cannot be resolved in a short period of time, the Nintendo Switch 2 sold in the US market may face price increases.
However, considering the new tariff policy recently announced by the Trump administration, which also mentions that products that use a certain proportion of American technology or manufacturing design can be exempted from the increased tariffs, the Nintendo Switch 2 may have a chance to avoid the tariff issue. However, the final result will still depend on Nintendo's subsequent announcement.
As for the release of Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo also emphasized that it will not withdraw the previously launched Nintendo Switch from the market. Therefore, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch OLED, and Nintendo Switch Lite will continue to be sold in the market. The reason is that not all players will upgrade to Nintendo Switch 2 immediately. Many players even choose to continue using Nintendo Switch to play games.
In terms of price, since there is a certain price gap between Nintendo Switch 2 and the previously launched Nintendo Switch, Nintendo will not specifically lower the suggested retail price of the existing Nintendo Switch.
On the other hand, there has been a significant price increase for Nintendo Switch 2 games. Doug Bowser said that this is reflected in the new game experience content, but he also emphasized that not all games have seen price increases. Only specific games will be sold at $80, while some games will still be available at $70.
