Nintendo launched in JapanAdditional paid warranty service called Wide Care, thereby protecting against any damage caused by natural circumstances, including damage caused by accidental water ingress, damage caused by falling, and even the "drift" problem of Joy-Con handheld controllers that many Nintendo Switch users may face.
Wide Care premium warranty service is available for a monthly subscription of 200 yen (approximately under NT$50) or an annual subscription of 2000 yen (approximately under NT$500), providing up to 10 yen in repair costs within a year. Users can subscribe while the console is still under warranty, or purchase a one-year subscription if the console is out of warranty or proof of purchase is lost. After one year, the subscription can be switched to a monthly plan.
As for the warranty coverage, it covers the Nintendo Switch console launched so far, as well as the Dock, charger and Joy-Con handheld controllers, and emphasizes that the warranty covers damage caused by natural accidents such as accidental water ingress and falling.
To request a repair during the warranty period, simply log in to your personal account on the Wide Care service page and submit an application. The Nintendo repair center will then send the repair box. The user only needs to pack the repair product and Nintendo will pick it up for repair. The entire repair process usually takes about 2 to 3 weeks, unless there are additional circumstances.
In addition, if you are repairing a standard Nintendo Switch or a subsequent version with an OLED screen, you must send back the Nintendo Switch console, Joy-Con handheld controllers, Dock, and charger. For a Nintendo Switch Lite, only the console and charger need to be sent back, and all shipping costs will be borne by Nintendo.
Currently, the Wide Care additional paid warranty service is only available in the Japanese market, and it is not yet confirmed whether it will be launched in other markets.
