Following the launch of the "LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System" in 2020 based on the classic US-standard NES (the Japanese version of the Famicom, commonly known as the red and white machine in Taiwan), Nintendo and LEGO have once again collaborated to transform the 1989 classic handheld Game Boy into a LEGO building block model "LEGO Game Boy", which is expected to be officially launched on October 10. Pre-orders are now open on the LEGO official website, with a suggested retail price of US$1.
The LEGO Game Boy is designed in 1:1 original size, and reproduces all the classic elements of the original Game Boy in great detail, including the iconic directional cross key, A and B keys, select and start keys, and the cartridge slot on the back of the body.
What's even more special is that this time it also comes with two classic game cartridges made of building blocks, namely "Super Mario Land" and "The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening". It also provides three replaceable 3D printed screen images, which simulate the startup screen and the scenes of the two games in progress, making the overall presentation more realistic and nostalgic.

Recreate the classics and awaken the handheld memories of a generation
Game Boy was first launched in April 1989 and was Nintendo's first handheld game console to use a replaceable cartridge design. Although it was equipped with a black-and-white LCD screen and its hardware specifications and image quality were slightly inferior to those of its contemporaries, it successfully entered the mainstream market with its affordable price, long battery life, high durability, and rich game content. The Tetris that came with it at the time also set off a global craze and became one of Game Boy's representative works.
After its launch, this model quickly became popular around the world, with cumulative sales exceeding 1 million units, becoming the first handheld console in the history of games to exceed XNUMX million units in sales, and also laid the foundation for subsequent successors such as Game Boy Pocket, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance. At the same time, Game Boy not only changed players' imagination of "playing on the go", but also officially launched the "handheld game generation".
Although the LEGO Game Boy does not have actual game functions, for players who love Nintendo and the LEGO brand, this set of building blocks undoubtedly has a high collection value. From the recreated button touch to the delicate appearance proportions, everything is a deep restoration of the original Game Boy.
