It will operate with a capital of 8 million Singapore dollars and will be headed by Takahiro Miura as representative director. The goal is to strengthen Nintendo's business promotion in the Southeast Asian market.
For a long time, Nintendo's business in Asia has been mainly concentrated in Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea and other places. Although it has a large player base in the Southeast Asian market, it mostly provides game and hardware product sales services through cross-border agents or third-party channels.
Expanding into the Southeast Asian gaming market with Singapore as its base
With the Nintendo Switch series of game consoles having sold over 1.4 million units worldwide and the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 game console this year, Nintendo has clearly recognized the development potential of the Southeast Asian market and has chosen Singapore as its core base to further deepen its local operations.
Notably, Singapore, in addition to its favorable international trade environment and infrastructure, is a top choice for many gaming and technology companies to establish their Asia-Pacific headquarters. Nintendo's presence here not only facilitates logistics and marketing, but also allows for the promotion of localized operations through local legal entities. This includes establishing official channels, strengthening customer service, and conducting exclusive marketing campaigns targeting the Southeast Asian market.
Considering setting up a localized company in Thailand
Nintendo also revealed that it is considering establishing a localized office in Thailand to expand its business in the country. Thailand has long been one of the most active console gaming markets in Southeast Asia, and if this is officially established, it will help accelerate the adoption of gaming software, peripherals, and digital services.
