Nintendo and The Pokémon Company (Pokémon Co., Ltd.) earlier filed a lawsuit against Pocket Pair, the developer of Palworld, for patent infringement.Sue.
"Phantom Beast Palu" is designed as an action-adventure survival game. Players can collect various magical creatures Palu in the game, and work and fight through Palu. After it was opened for experience in January this year, it attracted more than 1 million people to play online in just one month.
In July of this year, Pocket Pair formed a joint venture with Japan's Sony Music Entertainment and Aniplex to establish Palworld Entertainment, in preparation for the accelerated global development of the game.
Since many of the Palu designs in "Metamorphosis Palu" are said to be similar to some of the elf characters in "Pokémon", Pocket Pair CEO Takuro Mizobe emphasized that "Pokémon" is not the source of its design inspiration. Its concepts are more based on the dinosaur companions in "Ark: Survival Evolved". At the same time, more design ideas are derived from the "Dragon Quest" series of games. As for the survival mechanism and in-game tasks, they are inspired by "Rust".
However, the Pokémon Company announced on January 1 this year that it would investigate the suspected plagiarism of "Pokémon Paloo". It also stated that this game did not obtain the relevant authorization of "Pokémon" and emphasized that it would take corresponding legal actions against the infringing content based on the investigation.
In officially taking action against Pocket Pair, Nintendo stated that it will protect the intellectual property rights it has built over the years and will continue to take necessary action against any infringements.
