Nintendo earlier announced the acquisition of a CG production companyDynamo Pictures, making it a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nintendo, and changing the company name to "Nintendo Pictures". In the future, it will focus on developing visual content including CG animation for Nintendo's game works.
Prior to this, Dynamo Pictures had participated in the post-production of visual content for games including Death Stranding, Persona 5 character animations, and Metroid: Another M. In addition to games, Dynamo Pictures has also participated in the production of visual content for a variety of films and animations.
With the announcement of the acquisition of Dynamo Pictures, Nintendo is expected to use its technology to produce visual content for its game works. It may also extend its game works to create movies, animations and other content. For example, the live-action version of "Super Mario Bros.", which is expected to be released in 2023, may be post-produced using Dynamo Pictures technology, but it will still be mainly produced by Illumination.
Nintendo expects to complete the acquisition by October 3 of this year and will fully own all shares of Dynamo Pictures.
