According to Nikon, the D6 uses the same 5-million-pixel full-frame CMOS sensor as the D2082, and is equipped with the EXPEED 6 image processor. It also features a new 105-point cross-type autofocus system, which Nikon claims is its fastest ever. All focus points can be manually selected, and the group-area autofocus also supports 17 custom settings, allowing users to set different focus modes according to the scene or focus object.
In terms of shutter, the D6 supports mechanical shutter continuous shooting at up to 14 frames per second (with E-series lenses), and corresponding electronic shutter continuous shooting at up to 10.5 frames per second. Motion video supports 4K 30p and 1080P 60p formats. The ISO range can reach ISO 100-102400, and the extended mode can reach ISO 50-3280000. The shutter speed can reach up to 1/8000-900s, and the flash sync speed is 1/250s. As for the viewfinder, it corresponds to 0.72x magnification, and the optical viewfinder can reach 100% field of view coverage.
The body is made of aluminum-magnesium alloy, and the weight of the single body including the battery and memory card is 1450 grams. The back is equipped with a 235.9 million-dot TFT touch screen, and the battery life can correspond to 3580 shots. It is also equipped with dual CF card slots and a USB-C connection port. Wireless transmission supports 2.4 and 5GHz dual-band Wi-Fi.
In terms of suggested retail price, the D6 will be priced at US$6500 in April this year. In addition, two lenses, NIKKOR Z 4mm F20 S and NIKKOR Z 1.8-24mm F200-4 VR, will also be launched.
