Launched in mid-October last yearLow-cost subscription plans supported by advertisingAfter nearly a year, NetflixAnnounceThe user experience of this subscription plan will be further enhanced, including increasing the picture quality from 720P to 1080P, adding a downloadable viewing option, and adding a mechanism where after watching 3 episodes in a row, you can enjoy the 4th episode without ad interruption, so as to attract more people to watch.
Currently, Netflix's low-priced subscription plan supported by advertising is still offered at a price of US$6.99 per month, allowing up to two devices to log in and use it at the same time. Originally, the highest playback option was only 720P, but this update will add a 1080P option.
The option to download and watch content will be available in the near future, but it is not certain whether it will still be accompanied by ads when watching downloaded content. The mechanism for watching the fourth episode without ad interruption will not be officially added until early 4.
In addition to providing users with a better user experience, Netflix has also added new advertising options for its low-priced ad-supported subscription plans, including presenting advertising content through title sponsorship. It also plans to add QR Code advertising content in early 2024 to attract users to interact by scanning with their mobile phones. It is expected to be available in the US market first.
Additionally, ad formats will expand from the current 15- and 30-second lengths to include 10-, 20-, and 60-second lengths. These will be available globally, and advertisers will be able to choose to place additional ads on the top 10 most-watched videos. Regarding ad effectiveness measurement, Netflix stated that it will collaborate with third-party providers such as Integral Ad Science and DoubleVerify, and will also collaborate with Nielsen Research in the US on the Nielsen ONE ad measurement report, making it easier for advertisers to measure ad effectiveness.
