Netflix's plan was recently announcedAllow users to use their mobile phones as controllers, which was earlier confirmed to be launched on the App StoreAn app called Netflix Game Controller, allowing users to connect their iPhone or iPad to the TV and use it as a wireless controller to play games.
However, this app is not yet available for download, and Netflix has not yet announced which games this app can be used with, nor has it announced when the corresponding Android platform version is expected to be released.
The image released on the App Store shows that the interface of the Netflix Game Controller includes an analog joystick on the left and "A", "B", "X", and "Y" buttons on the right. The "A" button is enlarged, and the "B", "X", and "Y" buttons are arranged in a fan-shaped pattern outside the upper left corner of the "A" button.
The app versions for iPhone and iPad use the same design, differing only in screen size. Both feature a "Netflix" button and menu buttons in the upper center, but their corresponding operating functions cannot be confirmed at this time.
Netflix has previously revealed its desire to enhance the connected experience between mobile phones and TVs. By allowing users to use their phones as TV controllers and directly access downloaded games, this could increase user engagement and even encourage multiple users to share the experience on larger TV screens.
Netflix, which has already released 55 mobile games, plans to add another 40 games this year, including three exclusive games in collaboration with Ubisoft. It also plans to launch its own cloud-based game streaming service.
