Netflix, which continues to expand into the gaming market, has recently confirmed the hiring ofAlain Tascan, former executive vice president of game development at Epic Games, and served as its president of gaming business to help drive the development of Netflix's gaming business.
Prior to this, Alain Tascan had promoted game works including "Fortnite", "LEGO Fortnite Heroes", "Rocket League", and "Fall Guys" while working at Epic Games. Therefore, recruiting Alain Tascan as president of the game business shows that Netflix plans to focus on the game market.
Regarding the idea of entering the gaming market, Netflix believes that the current gaming market has a huge user base, many of whom are interested in streaming video programs. Therefore, it believes that by combining games with original program content, it will increase the chances of players continuing to watch content on the Netflix service.
Currently, Netflix original series including "Stranger Things" have been adapted into games, and content including "Squid Game" and "Wednesday" have also been confirmed to be adapted into mobile games, in order to attract more players to play and increase their willingness to use Netflix services.
Statistics as of 2022 show that Netflix's gaming content has 170 million daily users and 2330 million game downloads.
