NBCUniversal earlierAnnounceIt is expected to officially launch its streaming video service Peacock in April next year, and is expected to join the streaming video service market currently occupied by Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu. It is also expected to face head-on competition with Apple TV+, which will be launched in November this year.
Like many streaming video services, Peacock is expected to include exclusive video content from NBCUniversal, including exclusive series such as "The Office" and "Parks and Recreation", as well as TV series and variety shows such as "30 Rock", "Battlestar Galactica" and "Saturday Night Live".
In addition to a collection of exclusive TV series and programs, Peacock will also include movies produced by Universal Pictures, Focus Features, DreamWorks, Illumination Entertainment and other companies. It is expected to provide classic film series such as "American Pie", "Jaws", "Fast and Furious", and "The Bourne Identity". In the future, new film content will also be available for viewing through the Peacock service.
For the majority of Spanish-speaking people in the United States, Peacock will include more than 3000 hours of Spanish content to attract more non-English speaking markets.
NBCUniversal has not yet confirmed the actual pricing of Peacock, but it is possible that different usage plans will be offered, including an ad-supported viewing mode and an ad-free paid version.
Companies including Apple, Disney, and HBO have announced their entry into the streaming video service market. Judging from the previous success of Spotify and other streaming music service companies, users have become accustomed to consuming video content in a streaming manner. This can even reduce the hassle of storing files on mobile phones and other devices and waiting for content to download.
At the same time, because of the monthly subscription model, users are more willing to pay, and the content can be used by more people, while also activating the entire audio-visual content market ecosystem.
