The new Mozilla Leadership Council includes Mark Surman as Chair, Jane Silber leading Mozilla.ai, Laura Chambers leading Mozilla Corporation, and Mohamed Nanabhay leading Mozilla Ventures. It also includes Nabiha Syed leading the Mozilla Foundation and Ryan Sipes leading MZLA Technologies and the Thunderbird project.
Nicole Wong, who previously worked at Google and Twitter and was appointed by the 44th President Barack Obama as the U.S. Chief Technology Officer, will become the new Chairperson of the Mozilla Foundation Board of Directors. Kerry Cooper will serve as Chairman of Mozilla Corporation, and Raffi Krikorian will serve as Chairman of Mozilla.ai.
As for Mozilla co-founder and former CEO Mitchell Baker, he has confirmed his departure and will no longer serve as chairman or member of the board of directors of the Mozilla Foundation and Mozilla Corporation. Mark Surman expressed his hope to find a suitable permanent CEO of Mozilla Corporation and Mozilla.ai before the end of this year, which means that Laura Chambers and Jane Silber will only temporarily take over the current business.
In addition, Mark Surman also stated that he will invest in privacy-compliant advertising technology through the Mozilla Foundation, as well as artificial intelligence technology that is available in open source form, thereby creating new sources of revenue and accelerating the realization of an equal and barrier-free Internet environment.
