In response to iOS 9's new ad-blocking feature in Safari, Mozilla has announced the launch of the Focus by Firefox app. This app helps users block content such as ads, analytics, and social media activity trackers, allowing them to more specifically ensure their browsing privacy. Furthermore, the Focus by Firefox app can block web page fonts, preventing unnecessary data usage during mobile browsing and improving overall browsing performance.
Mozilla announced that it will launchNew Focus by Firefox App, mainly relying on the new mechanism of blocking advertisements for Safari in iOS 9, so that users can avoid being recorded by trackers such as advertisements, data analysis or social media dynamics when browsing various web pages through Safari, thereby ensuring the privacy and security of personal Internet browsing.
By enabling this app, users can now enjoy Tracking Protection on Safari, which is nearly equivalent to the private browsing mode provided by Firefox for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android. Furthermore, the Focus by Firefox app can further block web page fonts, thereby reducing unnecessary data usage during mobile browsing and improving overall browsing performance.
However, since Apple currently only allows Safari to connect various types of advertisements and other similar apps to use the same mechanism, the Focus by Firefox App service is currently not compatible with Firefox on the iOS platform, or browsers such as Chrome.
