Motorola has announced an update to its entry-level Moto G series, officially launching the 2026 Moto G and Moto G Play. This update primarily brings progressive technical specifications upgrades and a new exterior design featuring a Pantone co-branded color scheme.
Upgraded specifications: 6.7-inch 120Hz screen and 5200mAh battery
The new Moto G and Moto G Play both feature upgraded screen specifications, boasting a 6.7-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1000 nits. Battery capacity has also increased from 5000mAh to 5200mAh, and both support fast charging, with the Moto G supporting 30W fast charging and the Moto G Play supporting only 18W.
In terms of durability, both new models use Corning Gorilla Glass 3 reinforced glass and have an IP52 water resistance rating, the same as the 2025 Moto G. Hardware-wise, both are equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor and up to 12GB of built-in memory.
Specification differences: Camera and new Pantone colors
Moto G (2026):
• camera:It features a 5000-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 3200-megapixel front-facing camera.
• Color:Offers leather-inspired Pantone colors, including grey (Slipstream) and purple (Cattleya Orchid).
Moto G Play (2026):
• camera:It features a 3200-megapixel wide-angle lens and an 800-megapixel front-facing camera.
• Color:Available in Pantone Tapestry Blue.
Motorola emphasizes that both phones' cameras support a quad-pixel binning technology called "Quad Pixel," which enhances image detail in various lighting conditions.
Listing Information
The Moto G (2026) will have a suggested retail price starting at US$200 (approximately NT$6400) and will be available on the Motorola website starting December 11th. It will also be available on Amazon and Best Buy starting January 15th. The Moto G Play (2026) will have a suggested retail price of US$170 (approximately NT$5450) and is expected to be available on the Motorola website, Best Buy, and Amazon starting November 13th. Physical stores will stock it in the coming months.
