As video conferencing and enterprise communication software become saturated with AI summarization features, Zoom has decided to take the next step: letting AI directly "do things" for you. Zoom Communications announced a comprehensive expansion of its enterprise-grade "Agentic AI" platform and deep integration of the newly upgraded AI Companion 3.0 into product lines such as Zoom Workplace, Zoom Phone, and Zoom CX (Customer Experience).
The biggest highlight of this update is that Zoom breaks away from the passive role of AI in the past, which could only "listen and write". Through the secure connection of custom AI agents with dozens of third-party systems, every video conference or customer service call can directly trigger the automation of enterprise back-end workflows such as Salesforce and ServiceNow.
From "Content Generation" to "Task Execution": The Evolution of AI Companion 3.0
Over the past year, pain points for enterprises adopting AI have gradually emerged: most AI assistants (Copilots) can only summarize meeting minutes or draft letters, but the subsequent "actual execution" (such as creating files in the system, sending calendar invitations, and updating customer CRM status) still requires employees to manually switch between various unconnected software programs.
To address this gap, Velchamy Sankarlingam, President of Product and Engineering at Zoom, stated, "The next step for enterprise AI is to effectively translate conversations into concrete actions."
With the launch of AI Companion 3.0, Zoom introduces the strategically significant "Custom AI Companion" feature. Businesses can now create their own custom AI agents using pre-built templates (such as sales, IT, or marketing agents) or through a no-code approach. These agents are no longer confined to Zoom's closed ecosystem but can directly connect to third-party platforms such as Salesforce, ServiceNow, Box, Google Drive, and Microsoft OneDrive via secure connectors.
For example, once the business team finalizes contract details with a client in a Zoom video conference, the AI agent can not only generate a summary, but also update the opportunity progress directly in Salesforce, create a contract draft in Google Drive, and send a notification to the legal department via Slack, achieving true cross-system workflow automation.
Zoom Workplace undergoes major redesign: Introducing AI-first experience and anti-counterfeiting technology.
As a one-stop collaboration platform, the new generation of Zoom Workplace has also undergone a complete overhaul in terms of interface and functionality:
• Dedicated AI pagination and Zoomie Assistant:AI Companion will have a separate conversational workspace, making it easy for users to ask questions or start automated processes at any time; the new team collaboration assistant "Zoomie" will be ready to assist teams in focusing on goals in meetings and chat rooms.
• Instant voice translation:Completely break down language barriers, allowing participants to speak in their native language while other participants simultaneously hear real-time voice translations in their preferred language (initially supporting five languages).
• Deepfake risk detection:In response to the growing problem of AI-driven fraud, Zoom has introduced advanced security technology that can intelligently identify whether synthetic audio or video is present in a meeting and issue an immediate alert.
Zoom Phone and CX: Equipping Customer Service and Sales Teams with AI Engines
In the fields of voice communication and customer experience, Zoom has also presented a powerful upgrade solution.
Zoom Phone, which already has over 1000 million subscribers worldwide, has now added an agent-based workflow that automatically drafts emails and sends call summaries, and launched a "Virtual Agent AI Receptionist" with SMS interaction capabilities to handle initial customer complaints or appointments around the clock.
In terms of revenue and customer experience, Zoom Revenue Accelerator (ZRA) has launched the "AI Sales Assist" feature, which provides real-time prompts, competitor weakness analysis, and next steps suggestions on the side of the screen during business calls, making it like a personal coach for top salespeople.
