Royole Chairman and CEO Liu Zihong earlier stated that considering the impact of the new coronavirus, the company has decided to cancel its participation in MWC 2020, but the new foldable screen phone FlexPai 2 originally scheduled to be announced will still be released as scheduled.
Following vivo, Royole becomes the second Chinese company to completely withdraw from the MWC 2020 exhibition. Currently, Chinese companies including Xiaomi, OPPO, Huawei, realme and Lenovo are still maintaining their original exhibition plans. Only ZTE and TCL have canceled their exhibition press events, but they will still exhibit at the MWC 2020 exhibition area.
However, after LG, Ericsson, Amazon's AWS, Sony Mobile, NVIDIA, Intel, MediaTek and NTT, mobile phone, equipment or telecommunications companies have successively confirmed their cancellation of participation in the exhibition, companies including Accedian, Amdocs, AppsFlyer, France Telecom Equipment Certification Unit ARCEP, AT&T, Ciena, Cisco, CommScope, Dali Wireless, F5 Networks, Facebook, Gigaset, iconectiv, InterDigital, Interop Technologies, KMW Communications, Radwin, Spirent, Sprint, Ulefone and Umidigi have earlier confirmed the cancellation of their exhibition plans through Twitter, email and other means.
Google, which has exhibited at MWC in the past, has yet to confirm whether it will continue its participation, but appears to have begun internally assessing the impact of the coronavirus outbreak. Japan's Rakuten Group and its messaging service Viber clarified that they have no plans to withdraw from the show, but emphasized that they will adjust accordingly based on the impact of the epidemic.
As for Samsung, it has just finished its Unpacked 2020 press conference and has not yet confirmed whether it will continue to participate in the MWC 2020 exhibition.
So far, many companies have decided to withdraw from the MWC 2020 exhibition, but many have chosen to continue participating. For example, manufacturers including Nokia, HMD Global, Qualcomm, and NEC have not announced their withdrawal, but have emphasized that they will make good epidemic prevention preparations and will also try their best to use personnel stationed in Europe or employees in areas not yet affected by the epidemic to assist in exhibition matters.
However, under the continued impact of the epidemic, it may also prompt the GSMA, the organizer of MWC 2020, toConsider whether to cancel this exhibition, or postpone it to a more appropriate time. There are reports that the GSMA is expected to hold a meeting on February 2 to discuss whether the MWC 14 exhibition will be held as scheduled.
