Intel's autonomous driving business unit Mobileye announced that it will launch self-driving buses in the US market in 2024.
According to the announcement, Mobileye will collaborate with EV Systems, a subsidiary of German industrial company BENTELER International AG, and autonomous driving company Beep, and plans to launch autonomous buses in the United States in 2024, providing passenger services with 12-14 seats on board.
This self-driving bus will operate on specific closed roads at a speed not exceeding 35 miles per hour (about 56 kilometers per hour). It will not be equipped with any control designs such as steering wheels and pedals. It is planned to deploy hundreds of them in the United States in 2024 to meet the demand for shuttle use in public areas.
In future plans, it is expected that 1 to 1 vehicles will be deployed globally to promote the use of autonomous buses.
Prior to this, Mobileye had already determinedCollaboration with startup Udelv, and plans to offer self-driving truck services in the United States in 2023, and self-driving taxi services in Israel and Germany by the end of this year.
In addition, Intel recently confirmed that it will make its autonomous driving business unit MobileyeRestoration of independence, and is expected to be listed in the United States in mid-2022, thereby expanding Mobileye's future growth scale.
