In response to the previously launched headphone product Surface Headphones, Microsoft announced its first true wireless headphones, Surface Earbuds, at this press conference.
Compared to other true wireless earbuds, Surface Earbuds feature a circular outer shape. Besides being able to wake up and use the Cortana digital assistant service, they also support Microsoft Teams services, Office 365, and translation into over 60 languages. The operating interface is primarily controlled by touch on the circular outer surface, while the earbuds are designed to fit close to the ear to prevent them from falling off while being worn.
The Surface Earbuds also support fast pairing and can be connected to multiple devices. They even include a Spotify-specific feature that allows users to control music playback by swiping and touching the outer surface. Regarding battery life, Microsoft claims that the earbuds can last up to 24 hours when used with the charging case, but did not specify the battery life of the earbuds alone.
In terms of suggested retail price, Surface Earbuds will be priced at US$249 and is expected to be officially launched at the end of this year.
