Microsoft announced a number of new games at its Developer Direct 2025 event earlier this year, including Ninja Gaiden 4, a collaboration between Koei Tecmo's TEAM NINJA and Platinum Games, scheduled for release this fall. It also simultaneously unveiled the UE5 remake of Ninja Gaiden 2: Black, remastered with Unreal Engine 5. It also announced the release of Doom: Dark Age, a new first-person shooter in the Doom series, and Sandfall Interactive's new game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
Ninja Gaiden 4 is set in Tokyo. Players control the protagonist, Yakumo, as he slays enemies in a perilous city, employing new moves and wide-area attacks for greater flexibility. Also announced simultaneously is Ninja Gaiden 2: Black, a remastered version of the previous version using Unreal Engine 5. Available now for download on Xbox Series S/X and Game Pass subscriptions.
"Doom: Dark Ages", which is expected to be released on May 5 this year, is positioned as a prequel to "Doom" and "Doom Eternal" released in 15. It will allow players to fight against the army of hell in a dangerous medieval war, and use the brutal and powerful shield saw to fight a bloody way in a dark world full of secrets and dangers.
Light and Shadow: Expedition 33 is a turn-based role-playing game with unique real-time mechanics, allowing players to explore a fantasy world and engage in fierce battles with powerful enemies. Built on Unreal Engine 5, the game is inspired by Japanese games and was originally developed as a single-player game, but ultimately completed with the collaboration of multiple players. It is expected to launch on April 4th of this year.
"South of Midnight", created by Compulsion Games, the team behind "Contrast" and "We Happy Few", is an action-adventure game set in the unique customs and culture of the American South and presented from a third-person perspective.
