In response to developer needs, Microsoft earlier launched aAn open-source artificial intelligence tool called "AI Shell", and share it with the outside world through GitHub.
Simply put, "AI Shell" is a UI operating interface that can interact naturally through natural language, and can be connected with different artificial intelligence models and program agent services, allowing developers to "communicate" directly with the agent service through spoken language.
The corresponding functions include the creation of different artificial intelligence agent functions (AI agents) and a framework for structuring program content. It can also be integrated with PowerShell, a task automation and configuration management framework developed by Microsoft. The initial version currently provides two basic AI agent functions: Azure OpenAI, which is connected to the GPT-4o model, and Azure Agent, which can access knowledge related to Microsoft's Azure cloud service platform.
However, "AI Shell" is still in the public preview stage and is mainly used for early testing. Its functions are not yet complete and there may even be unexpected errors.
Microsoft also recently announced during Ignite 2024 that it can be operated through Microsoft 365 or Dynamics 365.Artificial Intelligence Agent ServiceUsers can also use Microsoft tool resources to build personalized artificial intelligence agent services, such as helping to transcribe email content, compile meeting minutes, or help users create more eye-catching sales reports. It can even be used to help handle repetitive and tedious tasks, as well as quickly organize and review last week's work progress.
At the same time, Microsoft claims that users can build their own artificial intelligence agent services without any coding foundation. They can do so through the Copilot service tool of Microsoft 365, or use Dynamics 365 to provide agent services designed for general business workflows, so that work matters can be handled more efficiently.
In addition, Microsoft also explained that this update can ensure continuity during operation through data "memory" capabilities. That is, when users interact with the agent service, they no longer need to repeat previous interactions, allowing the agent service to use previous interaction content to improve overall interaction efficiency. At the same time, through "block and link" technology, related information is grouped and stored for rapid system retrieval, and it can also respond to user questions more quickly.
Microsoft stated that AI agents are not new technology. Since last year, Microsoft has been conducting research in various fields and building a database of agents to assist developers worldwide in completing various tasks. This update further integrates these agents with large-scale natural language models, enabling them to perform more tasks and even complete more complex work projects. It also customizes their expertise to specific areas and needs, reducing repetitive tasks that impact productivity, freeing up time and manpower for innovation.
