In PerplexityComet、OpenAIChatGPT AtlasAfter the launch of AI-driven browsers, it has become an obvious trend to let AI provide assistance during browsing at any time.Announce, will add two new elements called "Copilot Actions" and "Journeys" to the built-in Copilot mode of its Microsoft Edge browser to further enhance the AI browsing experience.
Microsoft began integrating Copilot mode into the Microsoft Edge browser as early as July this year, and the two newly added features are intended to make Copilot even more convenient.
Copilot Actions: Triggering complex actions with natural language
"Copilot Actions" mainly allows users to give more complex operational instructions directly to Copilot through more intuitive natural language (including voice or chat text).
For example, users can say commands such as "check my email inbox for me" or "book a restaurant for me", and Copilot will automatically open the corresponding web page according to the instructions, and try to complete the login, form filling and other operation processes on behalf of the user, thereby automating cross-web page tasks.
Journeys: Connect browsing history and reduce paging burden
Another new feature, "Journeys", is designed to automatically organize users' past browsing history based on "themes" or "projects".
When a user reopens a related topic, Journeys will proactively provide follow-up action suggestions to help users quickly connect to the previously interrupted workflow. Microsoft said this feature is designed to help users reduce the trouble of having to open a large number of tabs at the same time.
Journeys also offers personalized recommendations. With explicit user authorization, Copilot can provide more precise responses based on past browsing history, such as recommending relevant content based on shopping history.
Emphasis on privacy control, initially only available in the US
Regarding the introduction of these new features that may involve personal browsing history and automated operations, Microsoft emphasized that all Copilot mode operations are fully controlled by the user and can be turned on or off at any time. At the same time, the system will also provide clear visual prompts when AI is operating or accessing data.
However, the two new features, Copilot Actions and Journeys, are currently only available to users in the US market in a limited preview. Users in other regions who want to experience them will still have to wait for subsequent push plans.
