Panos Panay, who worked at Microsoft for over 19 years and served as product chief, announced his departure from Microsoft earlier through his personal "X" account. Rajesh Jha, vice president of Microsoft Experience and Devices, later confirmed the news in an internal Microsoft letter and stated that Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president of Modern Life, Search, and Devices, will take over the responsibilities originally held by Panos Panay.Surface and Windows Business Unit.
If nothing unexpected happens, the Microsoft Surface new product launch event in October will be hosted by Yusuf Mehdi, who will be responsible for explaining Microsoft's upcoming new products.
Panos Panay, who joined Microsoft in 2004 and was promoted to chief product officer in 2018 and later took charge of the Surface and Windows business units, did not explain the reason for leaving Microsoft. He only said that he would plan his future personal development, and Microsoft did not explain his future development direction.
However, according to Bloomberg News, Panos Panay will join Amazon and be responsible for managing the Alexa and Echo product lines. If all goes well, Panos Panay may be responsible for introducing new products, moving from Surface to the Echo series.
After 19 incredible years at Microsoft, I've decided to turn the page and write the next chapter. I'm forever grateful for my time at Microsoft and the amazing people I had the honor to make products with.
