Microsoft earlier released a new update for users who joined the Windows 11 Insider Program test project.New testing features, allowing users to use Windows search function in an artificial intelligence way.
This feature isProposed in October last year, allowing the device to use artificial intelligence computing to determine the meaning behind the user's search terms, rather than just judging the input file name. For example, if the user enters a description related to "BBQ party", the system will allow the device to find photo content that matches the "BBQ party" context description.
However, this feature is currently only available for testing on "Copilot+ PC" devices equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon processors, and will only be allowed to be used on devices that meet the "Copilot+ PC" design. At the same time, the language part only supports English, French, German, Japanese, Spanish, and Chinese, but it is expected that more countries and regions will be added in the future.
The new AI-powered Windows search feature will be available in File Explorer, the taskbar search field, and the search field in Windows Settings. All searches are done on the device, so it can be used even when offline. There is no need to worry about whether the search data will be uploaded to the cloud.
As for the ability to search using natural language, this primarily corresponds to Windows Settings options and includes searching for files such as JPEG, PNG, PDF, TXT, and XLS. While searching data currently only supports searching within the device, it will also be expanded to cloud storage locations like OneDrive. As for how privacy will be ensured, it remains to be seen how Microsoft adjusts this.
