Launched earlier this year11th generation Surface Pro for Business, new Surface Laptop for BusinessAt the time, Microsoft had promised to launch a 5G connected version, which was confirmed to be ready to enter the market earlier, and Microsoft Taiwan also announced that it would officially launch this version on September 9.
Microsoft said that adding 5G connectivity to the Surface Laptop is not just about adding a modem to the hardware design, but a major redesign that includes a dynamic antenna system that can continuously adapt to the environment. Through six strategically placed and higher-positioned antennas, the device can automatically adjust the signal transmission path and power according to how it is held and used, ensuring connection reliability during use, and seamlessly switching between 6G and Wi-Fi networks. It can even allow the Surface Laptop to act as a mobile hotspot, allowing other devices to access the Internet smoothly.
Microsoft also touts the use of a customized multi-layer stacked material that is durable, lightweight, and textured, achieving reliable 5G connectivity without compromising portability or design. In addition to accepting nano SIM cards, the Surface Laptop with 5G connectivity also supports eSIM.
The Surface Laptop, which supports 5G connectivity, also weighs 1.36 kg and features a 13.8-inch narrow-border screen and an Intel Core Ultra (Series 2) processor. It also complies with the "Copilot+ PC" design and integrates the Windows 11 operating system with Microsoft 365 Copilot services. It also boasts the ability to use various artificial intelligence computing functions on the device.
To ensure that the Surface Laptop 5G can cope with diverse global network environments, Microsoft field-tested the device in more than 50 countries and with over 100 mobile network operators to ensure stable connections and smooth execution of tasks everywhere.
The device also underwent real-world simulation tests in different living and working environments, including homes, apartments, shared office spaces, and even laptop work. The antenna structure and heat dissipation design were carefully fine-tuned to closely match the usage model of modern hybrid offices.
With the launch of the 5G networked version of Surface Laptop in Taiwan, Microsoft Taiwan also announced13-inch Surface Laptop and 12-inch Surface ProThe business version will also be launched this week, offering a wider range of screen sizes and types.
