Recently, it was reported that Microsoft and ASUS have jointly developed aGame consoles, it was finally unveiled at the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 live broadcast earlier, launching two models named ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, and claiming that they can play more than 1000 game content from Microsoft platforms.

The ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X have not yet announced specific pricing, peripheral accessories, or pre-order information. They are expected to be released in select markets by the end of this year, including Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States. They will then be available in more countries and regions where ROG Ally models are also sold, but it seems that Taiwan will have to wait until later.
Add more Xbox and Microsoft adjustment elements
In terms of design, both models feature enhanced grips, making the experience more similar to an Xbox wireless controller, and include dedicated Xbox buttons. While the operating system remains Windows 11, Microsoft and ASUS have collaborated to make it more compatible with handheld gaming. The Game Bar interface allows users to easily browse their game library, launch and exit games, and integrates with ASUS's Armoury Crate feature.
In addition, Microsoft also stated that these two models can also call the Gaming Copilot assistant service through the Game Bar function to assist in game play functions or interact with online friends. At the same time, Microsoft also emphasized that it will cooperate with more game companies and developers to make more games compatible on game consoles and provide a gaming experience consistent with Xbox and PC platforms.
In terms of game content, Microsoft's Xbox Play Anywhere concept continues, meaning that users' gaming experience can be continued across Xbox, PC, and Xbox Ally series consoles, and even use the Xbox Cloud Gaming cloud streaming service and Xbox Game Pass service. Microsoft will also cooperate with Roblox to make its games playable in native form on Xbox Ally series consoles, and will also cooperate with more game brands, including providing content on other gaming platforms such as Steam, Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Connect, and Battle.net.
Differentiate and position different user groups
The ROG Xbox Ally, with its white design, is targeted at the needs of most consumers and features an AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor, 16GB of LPDDR5X-6400 memory, and 512GB of storage. The ROG Xbox Ally X, on the other hand, features a Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, 24GB of LPDDR5X-8000 memory, and 1TB of storage, targeting users with advanced performance needs. Its black design serves as a differentiator.
Both monitors feature a 7-inch, Full HD (1080p) resolution IPS display panel with 500 nits peak brightness and a 16:9 aspect ratio. They also support a 120Hz refresh rate and FreeSync Premium anti-tearing technology. They are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus tempered glass and utilize DXC anti-reflection technology to ensure visual comfort during gaming.
As for the connection specifications, there are differences. The ROG Xbox Ally provides two USB 2 Gen 2.1 Type-C ports with support for DisplayPort 3.0 display output and Power Delivery 3.2 charging functions, and a battery capacity of 2Wh. The ROG Xbox Ally X supports one USB60 Type-C port with support for DisplayPort 1, Power Delivery 2.1 and Thunderbolt 3.0 compatibility, and one USB 4 Gen 4 Type-C port also supports DisplayPort 1 and Power Delivery 2.1 functions, and a battery capacity of 3.0Wh.
The rest of the system supports expandable storage via a UHS-II micro SD card reader, a built-in 1mm headphone/microphone combo jack, Wi-Fi 3.5E (6 x 2) and Bluetooth 2 connectivity, and a ROG Xbox Ally 5.4W charging dock is included.
