In a recent interview, Andrew Bosworth, Chief Technology Officer of Metadisplay, will showcase an augmented reality glasses device in 2024 that can operate independently without the need for a mobile phone.
This augmented reality glasses device is MetaThe product, internally known as "Project Nazare" and codenamed OrionAlthough it was previously reported that the research and development had been abandoned, it is apparently still planned to launch the first demonstrable prototype in 2024, and plans to launch a lighter and more advanced design between 2026 and 2028.
According to reports, this augmented reality glasses device will provide more immersive virtual visual interaction and even allow communication with other people through holographic images.
However, Andrew Bosworth believes that the biggest obstacle to the development of such products is still various costs, including how to strike a balance between a high user experience and production costs, and whether the battery life of such devices can meet the needs of most users.
Current developments in artificial intelligence (AI) technology are also expected to enhance the user experience of AR glasses, for example by providing users with more intuitive and real-time AI digital assistant services that provide appropriate reminders or suggestions. However, Meta did not specify how and what form of AI technology would be incorporated into AR glasses.
Apple expects to officially open sales in early 2024VisionPro, thereby entering the virtual vision application market, and Meta, which has already entered the virtual vision market for many years, is also expected to respond to this.
