Following its previous collaboration with Luxottica Group to create Ray-Ban smart glasses, Meta earlier announced that it will release smart glasses in collaboration with Oakley on June 6th, Pacific Time.
Compared to Ray-Ban's more fashionable design style, smart glasses created under the Oakley brand are expected to be more sporty in style and will also become Meta's second product after Ray-Ban smart glasses.
Relevant news indicates that the smart glasses created by the Oakley brand may be based on the Sphaera series of sports polarized sunglasses that were once designated for use in the Olympics, and will continue to use the architectural design previously cooperated with the Ray-Ban brand, adding photo and video recording functions, as well as social sharing and voice assistant services.
The main difference is that the lens placement has been changed to the center of the frame. It is also optimized for sports use and incorporates the needs of outdoor sports such as cycling.
However, unlike in the past when the smart glasses products were announced at the Connect conference in September, this time the smart glasses in collaboration with Oakley were announced in June. The reason may be that the overall design of this product is not much different from the Ray-Ban collaboration, and there have been many rumors about it before.
On the other hand, announcing the collaboration with Oakley in June not only attracts more consumers who love outdoor sports in the summer, but also allows more time to prepare for the release of its more functional smart glasses at the upcoming September event.
Google unveiled itsAndroid XR PlatformProgress has been made, and it has announced cooperation with Samsung, Xreal, and Gentle Monster brands. Meta is also expected to announce its new smart glasses products in response.
