Palmer Luckey, the inventor of the Oculus Rift and co-founder of Oculus VR, announced earlier that he had founded a new defense startup, Anduril Industries. Will work with Meta, is expected to assist the US military in developing augmented reality and virtual reality technology application products, and is expected to be codenamed "Eagle Eye".
The "Eagle Eye" project contract involves approximately $1 million in funding, and Anduril Industries has now become the main supplier to the US military's $220 billion wearable device development project.
Prior to this, the U.S. militaryOriginally signed a cooperation agreement with Microsoft, using its HoloLens 2 technology to create a special head-mounted device for military use. However, due to poor overall user experience, the US military later transferred the relevant cooperation to Anduril Industries, and continued the previous US military and Microsoft cooperation on the Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS) project.
The product produced for the "Eagle Eye" project is a tactical helmet that combines advanced technology with virtual visual display glasses and other devices. It can display tactical information through augmented reality, thereby improving combat soldiers' vision and hearing abilities on the battlefield, thereby providing a more complete understanding of the battle situation. It can also cooperate with drones for large-scale battlefield detection and reconnaissance, and connect with weapons and equipment using artificial intelligence technology.
In this collaboration, Anduril Industries will integrate its proprietary design software with Meta's artificial intelligence modeling technology and apply it to related design equipment.
Anduril and Meta have teamed up to make the world's best AR and VR systems for the United States Military.
