Bloomberg News reportedMeta is currently working on at least three new types of smart glasses, and has also proposed a specific product development blueprint. The first smart glasses that can actually be used for augmented reality will be launched as early as 2027.

In late September last year, Meta showedAugmented reality glasses codenamed "Orion", showcasing Meta's vision for future smart glasses. Meta has invested over 10 years in researching these glasses, aiming to eliminate the need for connection to additional devices like mobile phones and operate in a fully independent manner. Furthermore, the glasses can allow users to interact with the world in front of them through holographic augmented reality images.
However, Bloomberg News reported that "Orion" will not actually be sold as a commercial model, and may plan to launch a commercially available version in 2027, with the internal product code name "Artemis".
The new smart glasses, internally codenamed "Supernova," will continue the previous collaboration with Ray-Ban and will be available in more countries and regions. Meta also plans to establish further collaborations with Ray-Ban's parent company, Luxottica Group. This includes the release of smart glasses, internally codenamed "Supernova 2," based on the Oakley Sphaera style. These glasses are expected to be more suitable for use during exercise, with the camera lens positioned in the center of the frame.
The smart glasses codenamed "Hypernova" are aimed at providing a more complete augmented reality application experience. They can run various apps with simple interfaces on the glasses, and can check notification messages or review photos at any time. At the same time, the price of this smart glasses may be in the range of US$1000.
Earlier news indicated that Meta plans to develop smart glasses in collaboration with Ray-Ban.Additional display function, which is expected to be launched in the second half of 2025, may be the smart glasses code-named "Hypernova".
Elsewhere, Meta appears to be working on a wristband device that can control smart glasses, similar to the wearable control device previously unveiled alongside the "Orion." Smart headphones are also a potential next step for Meta, potentially competing with Apple's AirPods.
