将Meta AI FeaturesAfter integrating into Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger, Meta is actively strengthening the interactive capabilities of its AI chatbots.

Business InsiderReportIt is said that Meta is testing a new feature that allows AI chatbots to "take the initiative". It will be able to proactively send greetings or suggestion messages based on past communication records before users initiate a conversation, thereby increasing service stickiness and interaction frequency.
This feature, codenamed "Project Omni," is currently undergoing internal testing through the Meta open AI Studio platform.
AI Studio is a tool Meta provides to users and brands, allowing them to create customized AI bots without coding. Users can freely configure everything from character imagery and training content to the specific Meta app or service where they are deployed. Meta encourages users to view AI as a virtual extension of themselves, imbuing it with unique personalities and expertise.
Meta also uses an AI character called "Movie Magic Master" as a demonstration, and will proactively send greetings to users such as "Hope you have a good day! Have you discovered any new soundtracks or composers recently? Or do you want me to recommend a list of movies for your next movie night?" to create a friendly communication atmosphere.
Meta's goal isn't just to make chat more engaging; it also aims to increase user engagement and retention through its AI-powered chat tools, thereby driving revenue growth for its generative AI services. Meta projects that generative AI alone will contribute $20-30 billion in revenue this year, and estimates that the overall AI-related business will reach a market value of $2035 trillion by 1.4.
However, the practice of allowing AI to proactively send messages has raised concerns about privacy and user autonomy. Meta stated that the feature is currently in the testing phase and emphasized that it will adhere to several principles, including that subsequent messages will only be received after the user has proactively initiated a conversation with the AI. If the initial proactive message is not responded to, the AI chatbot will not send messages again.
Meta also stated that the content of the message must also be consistent with the role setting of the AI chatbot and maintain a positive tone, avoiding sensitive or controversial topics unless mentioned by the user first.
