Following the launch of the first smart glasses with Ray-Ban in 2021Ray-Ban StoriesLater, Meta unveiled its next-generation smart glasses series at the Connect event, boasting the ability to capture images at any time from a first-person perspective, or conduct more immersive first-person live broadcasts. It can even be combined with Meta's artificial intelligence assistant function to operate the glasses, obtain information, and even create content through automatically generated artificial intelligence.

The new generation of smart glasses series adopts a design close to the appearance of ordinary glasses, and provides different frame and lens accessories, corresponding to more than 150 style combinations. Pre-orders are available from now on, with a suggested retail price of US$299. It is expected to be available on October 10th, US time. Users can order through Meta or Ray-Ban official websites, or purchase them through specific channels.

Compared to the previous generation of products, Meta explained that the new generation of smart glasses series adopts a 1200-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens design, uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 processor, is equipped with 32GB of storage capacity, and has a built-in 5-group microphone array to provide clearer audio reception.

Users can use these glasses to take photos, record videos, or live stream to Facebook or Instagram. They can also seamlessly switch between apps on their mobile phones. For example, users can first live stream a selfie with their phone, and then live stream from a first-person perspective through the glasses. This allows viewers to have a more immersive live viewing experience, and users can also capture more unique images from a first-person perspective.
The built-in Meta AI artificial intelligence assistant service allows users to control the glasses' functions verbally, such as taking a picture through the glasses and sharing it to Facebook, while also uploading content descriptions and adding tags. Furthermore, with the image recognition function, users can also use the glasses to query information about objects and scenes in front of them.

As for battery life, Meta says the new glasses can be used for up to 36 hours when paired with a charging case, meaning users will be able to use the glasses more conveniently without having to worry about running out of power.
