Prior to announcing its partnership with Meta, LG had already announced the establishment of a dedicated XR business unit last year to accelerate the development of applications in the virtual reality space. Recent rumors suggest Meta may be collaborating with LG on the next virtual reality headset, with LG providing Meta with customized display panels for the new Quest virtual reality headset.
