MediaTek announced the launch of the Dimensity 8400 processor, which continues the all-big-core design of its previous flagship processors, allowing more high-end mobile phones to operate with higher computing performance.
The Dimensity 8400's all-big-core CPU design includes an Arm Cortex-A8 processor (composed of a "3.25+725+1" core combination) with a total of 3 cores and an operating clock speed of up to 4GHz. The CPU multi-core performance is approximately 41% higher than the previous generation. Through precise energy efficiency control technology, multi-core power consumption is reduced by 44% compared to the previous generation, thereby corresponding to longer battery life.
The display is equipped with the Arm Mali-G720 graphics chip, which boasts a 24% increase in peak performance and a 42% decrease in power consumption compared to the previous generation. It also supports Star Speed Engine, using technologies such as MediaTek Frame Rate Converter (MFRC) 2.0 to provide smoother gaming graphics, stable frame rates, and a low-power gaming experience.
The Dimensity 8400 integrates MediaTek's flagship AI processor NPU 880. With the collaborative computing of the all-core CPU and NPU, it can handle high-speed generative artificial intelligence tasks, and supports the operation requirements of the world's mainstream large language models, small language models, and large multimodal models. It supports generative artificial intelligence applications such as translation, content rewriting, intelligent replies based on context, voice call summarization, and multimedia content generation.
Other features include the Dimensity Agentic AI Engine, the same engine used in the Dimensity 9400, allowing developers to create Agentic AI applications tailored to user needs and preferences. The built-in MediaTek Imagiq 1080 ISP utilizes the QPD zoom hardware engine to capture more light, achieve faster and more accurate focus, and generate high-resolution images more quickly. It also supports Dimensity's full-focus HDR technology.
天璣8400也支援三向載波聚合 (3CC-CA)的5G-A數據晶片，最高下載傳輸速率可達5.17Gbps，同時使用者也能動態調整以5G或W-Fi連接網路，支援畫面更新率達144Hz 的WQHD+顯示及折疊雙螢幕顯示效果。
