The Mate 30 series unveiled this time includes the Mate 6.62 with a 30-inch flat OLED screen and the Mate 6.53 Pro with a 88-inch "wrap-around screen" with an 2400-degree curved screen and a resolution of 1176 x 30. In addition, the Mate 990 Pro 5G, which uses the Kirin 30 5G network-connected version processor, was also launched.
As previously explainedThe Mate 30 series uses Android 10 as its operating system and the new EMUI 10 user interface. However, it lacks Google Mobile Services (GMS) certification, preventing direct access to Google Play services and ensuring the stability of Google services. Instead, Huawei is expanding its own mobile services platform by opening up its service framework, providing more API resources, and investing $10 billion to attract more developers. The goal is to provide more suitable application services to meet user needs.
In terms of hardware, the Mate 30 series is indeed equipped with the Kirin 990 processor, and even the Mate 30 Pro 5G network version is equipped with the Kirin 5 990G processor with corresponding dual-band 5G network function. The Mate 30 will be equipped with 8GB of memory and 128GB of storage capacity, while the Mate 30 Pro and Mate 30 Pro 5G network versions will use 8GB of memory and 256GB of storage capacity, and the battery capacity is 4200mAh and 4500mAh respectively.
The phone itself also uses a dual SIM card slot design and supports dual 4G LTE. You can also place a 5G SIM card in one of the card slots, and even use Huawei's NM memory card. At the same time, it emphasizes that the 30G connection performance of the Mate 5 Pro 5G far exceeds that of existing models on the market.
The phone is IP68-rated for water and dust resistance (the Mate 30 is IP53), and the screen supports the M-Pen with 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity. Wired charging supports 40W, while wireless fast charging reaches 27W. The updated wireless reverse charging feature, introduced last year, increases charging speed by approximately three times. For privacy and security, the phone supports 3D facial recognition and an under-screen fingerprint sensor.
This time, Huawei emphasized the significantly improved camera functions. It emphasized that the Mate 30 series is equipped with a 3D depth-of-field sensor, a gesture control sensor, and light and distance sensors in the "bangs" of the front screen, and is equipped with a 3200-megapixel video camera (the Mate 30 has a 2400-megapixel camera and does not have 3D depth-of-field sensing function).
The main camera, inspired by camera lenses, features a circular camera module housing a wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle, and telephoto lens, along with a 3D depth-of-field lens or laser focus. It supports 4K video and 720@960fps super slow-motion shooting. The Mate 30 Pro even boasts up to 7680fps slow-motion recording (resolution reduced to 720P), and can also capture depth-of-field effects during recording.
To highlight the Mate 30's video recording capabilities, Huawei not only used a skydiving video to highlight its stable shooting performance, but also collaborated with DJI to introduce CameraKit, allowing the OSMO Mobile 3, DJI's three-axis gimbal, to be directly paired with the phone without pre-installing a dedicated app. Profoto's recently developed continuous light C1 and C1 Plus for mobile phones will also support native connection with the Mate 30 series.
As for the colors, the Mate 30 series will be available in Emerald Green, Purple, Black, and Aurora. In addition, the Mate 30 Pro 5G connected version will also be available with a leather back cover design made of artificial leather, available in orange and dark green.
In terms of suggested retail price, the Mate 30 will be sold at 799 euros, while the Mate 30 Pro is expected to be sold at 1099 euros, and the Mate 30 Pro 5G connected version will be sold at 1199 euros.
At this event, Huawei also collaborated with Porsche Design to launch the Mate 911 RS, which is also designed based on the Porsche 30 GTS sports car. The back cover design has been replaced with the sports car engine cover, and it is decorated with red and black colors. The quad-camera design on the back of the body is also significantly different. The hardware specifications are the same as the Mate 30 Pro, with 12GB of memory and a storage capacity of 512GB. A set of protective case accessories will also be provided for easy handholding or to be pulled open to serve as a kickstand. The suggested retail price is 2095 euros.
