Manchester City Football Club showcases a new product developed in partnership with CiscoSmart scarf "Connected Scarf", will be able to understand fans’ emotional changes at critical moments of the game through built-in electroskin (EDA) sensing elements.
The Connected Scarf has an embedded set of EmotBit sensors in the middle (where most fans wear it around their necks). These sensors include a photoelectric sensor (PPG), an accelerometer, a thermometer, and a skin charge sensor to detect fans' emotional fluctuations while watching the game.
By accurately measuring subtle changes in sweat on fans' skin, their emotional stress index can be judged, and changes in heart rate and body temperature can be used to determine changes in factors such as game scores, and the relevant impact can be analyzed through data quantification.
Manchester City Football Club will currently allow selected fans to participate in this test by lottery, but has not yet stated how such quantitative data will be used. It may be used to arrange interactive activities for fans during the game, or further used for emotion-related research.
