Launched in 2019, and with artist and Girls' Generation member Yoona as the service spokespersonJello communication software, earlier confirmed that it will terminate all service operations at 7 am on July 28, after which all user data and messages retained on the service will be removed, and the wallet balance bound to the Jello service will be transferred to the Jiekou payment service.
Jello was once the favorite product of Jiekou Payment founder Hu Yijia, who regarded LINE as a direct competitor. It was first launched in 2019 and can be connected with Jiekou Payment services to provide payment and transfer functions within the communication service.
However, due to the subsequent controversy over copyright infringement of stickers caused by the open platform, Jello temporarily removed the app from the shelves in order to quell the storm. It was not put back on the shelves until the end of the same year. It also hired Yoona as its service spokesperson to attract attention, and even registered trademarks in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore, and plans to enter the Southeast Asian market in 2020.
However, it is obvious that Jello has difficulty finding a suitable living space under the pressure of services such as LINE, so it can no longer maintain operations and ultimately has no choice but to close.
As for Hu Yijia, who had been actively promoting Jello, he was fined NT$2 million by the Financial Supervisory Commission in February last year because Jiekou Electronic Payment was found to have problems in lending funds to Jiekou Jinke. The commission also required Hu Yijia to stop serving as the chairman of Jiekou Payment within the next year and to be replaced by Mei Hua, the former senior executive vice president of Future Bank. Hu Yijia later decided to step down as the person in charge of the company and only serve as a major shareholder.
