For many seasoned PC gamers, Logitech is synonymous with peripherals. Now, Logitech is officially celebrating its 40th year of deep cultivation in Taiwan. This Swiss brand has a very deep connection with Taiwan, having established a manufacturing base in Hsinchu in 1986. The famous G502 gaming mouse was even created by the R&D center in Hsinchu, Taiwan.
At today's (January 14th) press conference, Logitech not only reviewed its 40-year milestones, but also announced the launch of the PRO X 2 SUPERSTRIKE wireless analog gaming mouse, featuring the world's first HITS technology, demonstrating its ambition to redefine human-computer interaction in the AI era.
Five firsts, setting industry benchmarks
Looking back over the past 40 years, Logitech has indeed made numerous innovations in human-computer interfaces. According to data compiled by Logitech, they have set five industry benchmarks:
• The first glass can be used with a mouse:It solves the problem that traditional optical mice cannot operate on transparent surfaces.
• The first cross-device mouse:Flow technology allows users to seamlessly switch control and transfer files between two computers.
• The first electromagnetic scroll mouse:The MX series features the signature MagSpeed roller, which can roll a thousand strokes per second.
• The first mouse that you can play with while charging:PowerPlay wireless charging technology solves the battery anxiety of wireless mice.
• The first remote equipment control center: This allows IT administrators to remotely monitor device status using software such as Logi Tune.
These technological advancements are reflected in sales figures and awards. Logitech's flagship business series, the MX, has been a top seller for 25 years; while the legendary G502 series in the gaming field has surpassed one million units sold globally, making it the only model worldwide to achieve this feat. Furthermore, since 2019, Logitech has received over 300 international design awards, including the iF Design Award, the Red Dot Design Award, the Good Design Award, and the IDA Design Award.
Taiwan is not just a factory, but also a research and development brain.
During the meeting, Ares, General Manager of Logitech Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau, emphasized Taiwan's special position in Logitech's global landscape.
Logitech is currently the only brand in the industry that insists on owning its own factory, which allows them to manage everything from R&D to manufacturing, ensuring both quality and production capacity. And all of this started with the manufacturing base established in Hsinchu in 1986.
Subsequent developments further proved the importance of the Taiwanese team: In 2000, Hsinchu was transformed into a research and development center, focusing on e-sports and wireless technology, and developed the first trackball and ergonomic mouse; in 2013, the Logitech G e-sports brand was launched in Taiwan, and the G502 mouse, which is highly praised by gamers, is a representative work developed and launched by the Hsinchu team.
AI-enabled e-sports new products
Looking ahead to the next 40 years, Logitech will focus on "AI empowerment." In addition to the existing Logi Options + Smart Actions smart applications, hardware innovation has not stopped.
