Logitech CEO Hanneke FaberIn a recent interview with The VergeRegarding the recent market belief that voice commands and artificial intelligence technology will replace traditional mice and keyboards, Hanneke Faber believes that products such as mice, keyboards, and headphones still have considerable opportunities for innovation and development.
Hanneke Faber took over as CEO of Logitech in December last year. Prior to this, he served as a senior executive for many years at conglomerates such as Unilever and Procter & Gamble and has extensive experience in the consumer brand sector.
Regarding the market's belief that voice commands and AI technology will replace traditional mice and keyboards, Hanneke Faber believes that the development of such technologies will be more conducive to the innovation and growth of peripheral products such as mice and keyboards. For example, the Logi AI Prompt Builder feature recently added to Logitech mice allows users to more quickly activate AI features such as OpenAI's ChatGPT using a mouse or keyboard. At the same time, mice and keyboards are still required in many work scenarios, and even the current gaming market is struggling to break away from the need for them.
As for headphones, they are becoming increasingly important due to the need for modern work to be conducted via video. Even if more and more artificial intelligence technologies require verbal instructions in the future, headphones will become an important "communication" tool.
In addition, Hanneke Faber also revealed that Logitech's vision for future mouse products will be based on the ability to continuously improve their functions through software updates, and may even allow users to obtain updated mouse products through subscriptions. Logitech will continue to recycle, refurbish, and continue to use recycled materials to make products. In the future, it will move towards the goal of using 100% recycled materials to achieve environmental sustainability.
Hanneke Faber said that Logitech has already started to implement the above approach, but it has not yet reached the expected scale, but it is indeed the future development direction of Logitech.
