Following the exciting results of 2025Brand Revival ShowThen, Pebble, a pioneer in smartwatches, made another move.
Pebble has officially announced the launch of the successor to its classic round watch – the Pebble Round 2. This product is regarded as a "perfect correction" by the company's founder Eric Migicovsky to the Pebble Time Round launched in 2015, attempting to correct all the shortcomings of the original while rediscovering the soul of Pebble that is most loved by veteran players.
Say goodbye to "landing pad" bezels, screen-to-body ratio greatly upgraded.
Although the Pebble Time Round was known for its slim and lightweight design, its thick bezels (enough to land an airplane on) and short battery life (only two days) deterred many fans.
The biggest change in the newly released Pebble Round 2 is its screen. It features a 1.3-inch color e-paper touchscreen with a fully laminated display that extends to the edges, completely eliminating the bulky bezels of the past. Viewing angles have also been greatly improved, and glare has been reduced, allowing users to clearly read the time from various angles.
The key point is that this watch retains an extremely thin and light feel, with a body thickness of only 8.1mm. It is almost weightless to wear, which is in stark contrast to other smartwatches on the market that are often more than 10mm thick and obviously bulky.
Battery life increased to two weeks, but heart rate monitoring was removed?
Pebble's proudest feature, "long battery life," is back. The official claim is that Round 2's battery can last for more than two weeks, completely solving the pain point of the first generation requiring frequent charging.
However, in order to maintain a slim profile and good battery performance, Eric Migicovsky made a bold decision: not to include an optical heart rate sensor.
He believes that one of the reasons Pebble failed in its early days was its attempt to please everyone by cramming in too many features. This Round 2, however, is a return to the original principles, focusing on "utility" and "whimsy."
While it lacks heart rate monitoring, it features dual microphones, supports AI voice assistants and message dictation, and offers basic step counting and sleep tracking. Most importantly, it utilizes an open system, allowing users to freely customize the surface.
Priced at $199, expected to ship in May this year.
The Pebble Round 2 is now available for pre-order, with a suggested retail price of US$199 (approximately NT$6400), and is expected to begin shipping in May of this year. The official website is also quite generous, stating that if you previously pre-ordered the Pebble Time 2 but change your mind and want to switch to this round watch, you can unconditionally convert your order.
